About Allan Strattin Automotive

Where it all began...

On the 30th June 1980 Allan Stratton opened a mechanical work shop in Southport. A mechanic by trade, and having previously owned a car repair business in Melbourne, Allan starting operating in Southport, Gold Coast due to many people asking him who he would recommend to service their car. From humble beginnings, Allan was the sole mechanic in the business during the initial twelve months.
In 1981 Allan Stratton Automotive became an RACQ approved repairer. The prestige of this is synonyms with the reputation Allan grew for his business. By having your car serviced by Allan you were guaranteed to receive honest and trustworthy service, at a competitive price, without compromising on quality. The integrity of this foundation saw the business grow on word of mouth referrals. Allan's son Jeff, having completed an apprenticeship in auto mechanics starting working in the business, and customer's became part of the family.

In 1994 the business was purchased by Wayne and his Father Les Watson. Wayne states "We kept the name Allan Stratton Automotive as it had such a good reputation". Customer's in the local Southport area and surrounding suburbs knew Allan by name and his reputation of providing quality mechanical work as well as being completely honest and up front with them when it came to pricing.
In 2013 Allan Stratton Automotive came full circle with Allan's son Jeff and his wife Joanne Stratton purchasing the business. Jeff talks about fond memories of working around the workshop stating "there was always such a good feeling working around Dad and the business. It was inspiring watching the relationships that Dad built with his customers". Jeff boasts "I jumped at the chance of continuing this family legacy". 
In 2017 the business was purchased by Glenn & Nicky Watson. Glenn also keep the name because of the reputation. Glenn & the team continue to offer High Quality Mechanical repairs and looking forward to a long ownership.
